Michael's love for construction and homes started with his dad, Brad, who worked at Beechcraft during the days, then took Michael alongside him on home remodeling jobs in the evenings and weekends. As a young man, Michael bought his first home and used the opportunity to remodel it and sell it with increased equity. Over time, and many homes later, Homes R Us was born. In his early thirties, Michael received his real estate license and started working full time in the industry he loves. Shortly after, Michael and his dad got their general contractor licenses (Class B) together. In real estate, Michael landed in the new home construction and design industry, where he helped thousands of new home buyers customize their dream homes and made the building process effortless for every one of them. Michael has an incredible ability to walk into any home and visualize its potential, then the skills to make the vision come to life.

Michael's wife Jody grew up around her grandpa Wes's excavating company, her grandpa Ralph's wood shop, and her dad, Jerry, who was a heavy equipment operator. She spent her time making mud pies, playing with Tonka trucks, and climbing on old equipment. It was almost a given that she chose to get her degree in civil engineering and go to work in the construction industry.

When the Lord brought Michael and Jody together, she joined with him to make Homes R Us their family business after she retired from full time engineering. Jody's experience in marketing, research, and process analysis in the construction and ethanol industries transfers seamlessly as she works alongside Michael in marketing, design, and construction.  Jody has a knack for functional design of kitchens, bathrooms, and storage from the unique perspective of engineer and mom that helps make our homes more user-friendly and maximizes their functionality and space.

Homes R Us is the culmination of Michael and Jody's love for construction, beautiful homes, and, most importantly, people.
